Refugium offers weekly yoga classes based on hatha vinyasa and embodied yin in the cosy studio on Styrmansgatan 7 in Jakobstad. In the summer there are also classes offered outdoors in Gamla Hamn as well as in Fäboda. The studio takes only a small number of participants at a a time, so the atmosphere is tranquile and safe. All classes are combining yoga poses and/or sequences with breath exercises and elements of relaxation and mindfulness. Most classes are designed to suit both beginners and more experienced participants.
Mats, blocks, bolsters, belts and blankets are available in the studio, but you can also bring your own yoga gear.
Classes are held in either Swedish/Finnish/English depending on who is taking part of the class.
You can book your spot for a yoga class HERE.
If you prefer to use a 10/5/3-times card or pay with cash, e-passi, TYKY or SMARTUM you can do so at the studio. Seniors and students get a 30% discount of the normal price on weekly classes.

Yoga can be part of the transformation towards a more sustainable world. Yoga holds the power to support inner change as well as to help us transform our daily lives. In yoga, our focus is not on HAVING material belongings, achievements or DOING something that brings us external status. Rather, we turn our focus to BEING. We gradually learn to tolerate stillness, to accept what is, to hold space for ourselves in body and mind. Also, we learn to let go of the egocentric in favor of the ecocentric. Our relation to ourselves, to other humans, and to all living creatures is the foundation for our way of living. We are all deeply interconnected. Taking care about our inner life, helps us live in ways that care about the life around us. The ancient ethical principles and the daily practices of yoga can help us to walk more gently on Planet Earth. Yoga is about taking care of the energy of life wisely, about balancing activity and rest, about honoring the Wonder of Life right here and now.
